Simple Home Projects (to help you stay organized)

November 1, 2016

The beauty of home projects is they take less than a day and you gain pride of ownership along the way.  Remember Home is a gift, so let’s get started.

1.) Utility Room- Adding extra storage

Increase storage with a Utility Shelf

The Utility Room is one area where we like to save our clients money.  When it comes to extra storage this room can become your work horse.  When our clients purchased the home they knew they needed to up their storage space, but with all the other furnishings they needed the Utility Room was not a room where the budget was prioritized.  With a little elbow grease, we were able to give them an entire additional shelf for around $50.00.  If we would have added upper cabinets to match the rest of the house it would have been between $850-$1100.  So our savings were significant here.

This worked out perfectly and gave them space for all their extra essentials like laundry detergent, water, paper products and appliance storage.

2.) Under-the-Bed Storage Bags

Ziplock Space Saver Bags

We were a little late to discover the magic of these treasures, but now we’re hooked.  If you’re a snow-bird or just looking to utilize space for seasonal items- these bags are wonderful.  We recommend them if you have décor that transitions through different times of the year or if you like using all the nooks and crannies in your existing space.  One of the biggest complaints we receive from clients is the lack of home storage space they find when relocating to Arizona.  This is a quick and inexpensive fix to gain more usable space in your home.

3.) Re-locate an Office Desk

One of our most request spaces (when clients are redesigning) is a separate home office area.  What we find in a lot of cases, however is, because of their growing family, the home simply doesn’t allow for it.  We’re always up for the  challenge but with a little creative thinking- we’re able to find them wasted space that could be usable and more practical for them.  Here we relocated the typical desk into a Family Room corner which allowed them space to work without having to alter the homes blue print.
